Design, Construction and Simulation of a Circuit- Breaker Based Feeder Pillar with over current And Earth-Fault Protection Cum Digitalized Voltmeter

چکیده

This research embodies the design, construction and simulation of a feeder pillar (415VAC) with over-current, overload and earth-fault protection with the aid of a phase sequence relay, contactor, earth-leakage circuit breaker and three-phase overload relay. The analog voltmeters in the various bus-bars (red, yellow and blue phases) in a conventional feeder pillar is replaced with a digital panel voltmeter indicating the voltage across a phase (240V) or lineto-line (415VAC) flowing through the bus-bars. The major reason for this research study is to prevent the constant changing of fuses. It also provides sufficient protection in electric power distribution, and easy identification of faults when encountered. The feeder pillar not only distributes power through the channels but also protects the transformer against damage through the use of the earth-leakage circuit breakers as well as miniature circuit breakers. The panel of the feeder is well earthed against lightning surges that can bring about damage to the distributing system.

Smart Switching of Multi-terminal Hybrid DC Power Based on Load

A fault protection and location method for a dc bus micro grid system is presented in this paper. If a fault causes the dc bus to de-energize completely, it makes locating faults very difficult. The proposed algorithm can be implemented and executed by an intelligent electrical device for an individual node. The bus was segmented into overlapping nodes and links with circuit breakers (CBs) to i...

Fault and Theft Recognition Using Toro Dial Sensor in Programmable Current Relay for Feeder Security

Feeder protection is important in transmission and distribution side because if any fault occurs in any feeder or transformer, man power is needed to identify the problem and it will take more time. In the existing system, directional overcurrent elements with load further secured by a load encroachment function can be used to provide necessary security and sensitivity for faults on remote poin...

A New Restricted Earth Fault Relay Based on Artificial Intelligence

The restricted earth fault (REF) relay is a type of differential protection which is used for detection of internal ground faults of power transformers. But, during external faults and transformer energization conditions, the probability of current transformer (CT) saturation increases. Thus, the spurious differential current due to CT saturation, can lead to REF relay maloperation. In this pap...
